Penne Pasta with Red and White Sauce


If you have unexpected guests and you don't know what to cook, surprise them with a great pasta dish. Here is a hassle-free and extremely delicious pasta recipe that calls for a variety of flavourful ingredients that blend beautifully in red and white sauce and tastes delicious.

Serves:-  4-5


INGREDIENTS:-
  • Penne Pasta  - 300 gms
  • Broccoli ( You can use other vegetables too)
  • Oil-  2 tbsp
  • Salt- to taste 
  • Red Chilli Flakes - as per your requirement
  • Oregano - as per your requirement
  • Black pepper- 2 tsp
For white sauce:-

  • Maida -  1 tbsp full
  • Milk- 1 cup
  • Butter- 1 tbsp
  • Salt - for taste
  • Sugar - one pinch
  • Cheese -  one cube  
 For tomato sauce:-
  • Tomato Puree -  made out of 6 tomatoes
  • Garlic -  5-6 cloves finely chopped
  • Onion - 1 if big, 2 if small
  • Tomato ketchup- 1 tbsp 
  • Salt- For taste


METHOD:-
  • Take a pan and fill enough water, add oil and salt to the water and bring it to boil.
  • Add the penne pasta to the boiling water. Pasta should be added only after water boils or else it will break.


  • Boil the pasta for 10-15 mins till its cooked and then drain all the water.
  • Side by side take water in a pan and add broccoli and boil them.

White Sauce Preparation:-
  • Heat butter in a pan, when it starts to melt add maida.

  • Whisk it well. Now add milk and keep stirring.
  • Keep stirring until the mixture becomes slightly thick and creamy.

  • Keep stirring to avoid lumps. 
  • Add little salt and a pinch of sugar and grate the cheese.
  • Cook the it till you see small holes in the sauce. When you achieve this, it means the maida is cooked.

  • Once that is done take it off the pan and whisk it well.
Red Sauce Preparation:-
  • Take 6 tomatoes and boil it.

  • Remove the skin and blend it with little tomato ketchup and make a puree.

  • Take oil in a pan and heat it
  • Add chopped garlic to the oil and saute it.

  • Then put chopped onions and saute it till it turns transparent.

  • After that add tomato puree and salt.
  • Add the white sauce made to this red sauce and boil it.

  • Add oregano, red chilli flakes and black pepper and mix it well.

  • Add the boiled broccoli to the sauce and mix it.

  • Add the penne pasta and garnish it with cheese.
  •  And your pasta is ready to be served. You can serve it with garlic bread and enjoy it .
