Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer butter masala is one of the most popular paneer recipes in Indian cuisine, and undoubtedly one of my favourites. And this simply irresistible dish can be served with rotis, nan, kulcha or rice. Follow this step by step recipe and experience the the best paneer dish.

INGREDIENTS:-


















  • Paneer - 400 gms
  • Onions - 1 and 1/2
  • Tomato - 4 medium sized
  • Ginger - 1 and 1/2 spoon chopped
  • Garlic - 4-5 cloves
  • Cashews - 7-8 soaked in water
  • Bay leaf- one small piece
  • Green chillies -  3-4 slit lenghtwise
  • Milk - half cup (you can add more if required)
  • Kasuri Methi (Dried fenugreek leaves)- 2 to 3 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1 tbsp (you can add more if you like it spicy)
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon ( add more if required)
  • Butter - 3 tbsp
  • Oil- 2 tbsp
  • Salt - for taste
  • Coriander leaves -  for garnishing
METHOD:-
  • First cut paneer into medium sized cubes and keep them aside.
  • Then Grind onion, ginger and garlic in a grinder and make onion paste. Grind soaked cashew nuts with 2 tablespoons water to make cashew nut paste. Blanch the tomatoes and blend them to prepare tomato puree.
  • Heat butter and oil in a deep pan and add the onion paste and bay leaf. Saute the onion paste till it turns light brown for approx 4-5 mins.
  • Add green chillies and red chilli powder and saute this mixture for a min.
  • After this add the cashew paste stir and cook this for 2 mins.
  • After that add tomato puree and cook till oil separates from the mixture. Once this is done add red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and salt and mix them well.
  • Add the milk and little water according to the level of consistency you require and cook it till the oil comes on the surface of the gravy or for 4-5 mins.
  • After that add the paneer and kasuri methi and cook until you get the desired consistency.
  • Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve them with hot rotis or nan!!!
